    Program and Training Officer (PTO) positions are only located overseas. On the Applicant Information screen you will have the option to identify your regional and sector program preferences, which may be taken into account during the selection process.

    The Pacific Islands Region consists of: Fiji, Micronesia, Tonga, and Vanuatu.

    The Europe/Mediterranean/Asia (EMA) Region consists of: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Georgia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Philippines, Romania, Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine.

    The Africa Region consists of: Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

    The Latin America and Caribbean Region consists of: Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Eastern Caribbean, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Suriname.

    Fluent foreign language (professional level) will be required for some positions. Some positions require fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese. Other languages will be required according to the needs of the post. Applicants will be screened for language proficiency during the interview process. Also please ensure you indicate your language proficiency in your application.

    Positions may be filled at any grade level. The starting grade for each position will be based on the needs of management and of the specific overseas post, as well as the qualifications of the selected candidate.

    The date on which an office requests a roster of candidates will be considered the closing date for applications for the purpose of applying veterans preference rights. As this is an open continuous announcement, multiple rosters will be issued. Qualified candidates, including qualified veterans, who applied after the last closing date will be considered for subsequent rosters.

Duties:

  • Participates in, coordinates, and/or manages Peace Corps Volunteer-related programs and projects, such as training and/or security programs.
    Coordinates projects for the development and implementation of Peace Corps Volunteer training programs.
    Provides post level advice and guidance, including interpretations, opinions, or decisions, regarding Peace Corps Volunteer-related programs or policies. Assesses program or policy conditions, service, or anomalies.
    Performs work related to developing and maintaining relationships with host country government officials, Embassy personnel, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
    Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised; assigns work according to the priorities of the Country Director, Post and /or the Peace Corps.
