Duties:
The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and executing communications strategies supporting the construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities serving the U.S. Congress and the Supreme Court. The position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Project Management Division. This Division is responsible for executing high visibility construction and repair projects for the Capitol, congressional office buildings, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, and supporting infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with the AOCs Congressional and External Relations in the development of public information, internal communication, congressional relations, press relations, and community affairs associated with complex, multi-year, and multi-million dollar facilities projects. Responsibilities will include assessing the informational needs of both internal and external audiences; developing and implementing strategies and tactics to advance the programs of AOC Planning and Project Management; disseminating information about these programs; responding to requests and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders; and working with numerous congressional and governmental organizations. To accomplish these duties, the incumbent will oversee support contractors and work in a matrixed environment, drawing support from other personnel and offices in the AOC. This position may require flexible work hours including weekends, evenings and on call as necessary. Experience leading communications relating to large, complex, multi-year facilities projects with large corporations or governmental agencies is desired.
