  • This is an open and continous position. Opportunities arise thoughout the year and applicants will be evaluated from the pool of applications received.


    This is a short-term contract, typically lasting three to four months.

    Fluency in a foreign language may be required for contracts in certain countries.

    Ability to travel internationally is required.

    A valid passport is required; some locations require a visa and/or vaccinations and/or preventative medicine. Applicants should identify any medical or travel restrictions which would prevent them from traveling to specific countries. This information should be included in the 'Additional Information' area of the application.

    Duties will include travel to and work in under-developed countries which could require great flexibility to handle unexpected difficulties.

    NOTE: This is an open, continuous contract solicitation for which there may not currently be a contract, and that qualified applicants being considered for a contract will receive a specific SOW that includes location, dates of service and any other special requirements.

Duties:

  • Designs, develops and implements technical training for Peace Corps Pre-Service Training (PST).
    ¿ Conducts training needs assessments in concert with tasks outlined in post's sector project plan.
    ¿ Builds into trainings the concept of sustainable development and leadership and first-year at-site technical skills acquisition, emphasizing reflection and processing of all activities in a cross-cultural context.
    ¿ Works with other training staff to determine best training structure to integrate the three training components: Technical, Language and Cross-Cultural.
    ¿ Designs with technical training staff suitable training materials and a process for compiling training materials during the PST.
    ¿ Helps to organize orientation workshops for Counterparts and host families.
    ¿ Works with the logistics coordinator and training director to identify possible sites that are appropriate for the content of technical training.
    ¿ Project deliverables to be completed by the end of the contract: Final Draft Training Manual; Training Design; Relevant technical session plans for future PST and in-service trainings.
  • Supports Peace Corps Trainees
    ¿ Works with Training Manager, PST Director and other staff to ensure a positive Trainee experience.
    ¿ Promotes team spirit among training staff and with Trainees.
    ¿ Analyzes Volunteer Assignment Descriptions, Pre-Training Questionnaires, resumes and personal data about trainees to augment support capabilities.
    ¿ Reads all relevant program documentation, project plans, training design guidance, trainee assessment guidance and Peace Corps policies and procedures regarding Volunteer/Trainee standards of conduct/behavior, grounds for termination, and Volunteer selection criteria.
  • Instructs technical training modules in one or more sector as part of a Peace Corps PST program.
    ¿ Follows principles of hands-on experiential learning in conducting technical training and prepares written component planning documentation using prescribed formats: training plan with identified competencies, learning objectives, training strategies, sessions outline.
    ¿ Works with and trains/mentors other training staff to assume the technical training responsibilities for future PSTs.
  • Serves as a technical expert and advisor.
    ¿ Provides professional consultation to Trainees and staff on one or more of the following technical sectors: Agriculture, Education, Health, Business Development, Environment, Youth/Community Development
    ¿ Works closely with Programming and Training staff to refine objectives, create session plans and define measurement criteria and tools for each component.
    ¿ Designs and updates ongoing technical training curriculum that addresses the Trainees¿ skill needs for the first three to six months of service.
  • Assesses and evaluates Trainee learning progress.
    ¿ Reviews and assesses individual experience and education needs.
    ¿ Provides information and assistance concerning available options, resources, and methods for meeting educational goals.
    ¿ Develops and implements evaluation tools designed to monitor trainee performance and assesses the overall technical training component.
