Agency Marketing Statement:

  • The purpose of this open-continuous announcement is to create a pool of candidates eligible for non-competitive placement in Peace Corps based on their recent Peace Corps Volunteer service. Positions filled through this announcement may be at the FP-9 through FP-5 grade levels (equivalent to GS-5 through GS-9) and may be located at Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C. or in seven Regional Offices (New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL). Please do not contact Peace Corps staff for application status information. You will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.

You can apply for a non-competitive appointment under this announcement if you are within 60 days of completing your volunteer service or if it has been less than one year since completing a period of qualifying volunteer service. This year may be extended to not more than three years for military service, pursuit of studies at an accredited institution of higher learning, or other activities which, in the view of the PC, warrants an extension, such as service with AmeriCorps. Any request for extension of the one year requirement must be clearly addressed in your application and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Qualifying volunteer service means satisfactory completion of a full term of service or satisfactory completion of at least twelve months, including training, when termination is determined to be for reasons beyond the Volunteer's control.

Documentation of qualifying volunteer service must be attached to your application. In most cases this will be your Description of Service (DOS). Contact information for two references from your recent volunteer service is also required. In your application, also be sure to completely identify all work experience and education (degree, year, GPA, credit hours, honor societies) to assist in determining minimum qualifications. You may qualify for some of the below positions based on experience, education, or a combination of the two.

You may indicate interest in ONE OR ALL of the following job categories: Volunteer Recruitment, Country Desk Units, General Administrative Positions, Medical Screening, Training Administration, Contract Management, Information Technology and Finance/Budget. Starting grade and specific promotion potential will vary by position.

In Peace Corps Foreign Personnel (FP) pay plan (grade level system), as FP grades go higher, the corresponding numbers go lower. For example, the highest grade level is FP-1 (equivalent to GS-15) and the lowest grade level is FP-9 (equivalent to GS-5).
