  • This is a 12 month contract position, with four one year options in the contract. The period of performance will begin on or about June 1, 2010.

    Ability to relocate to Paraguay is required. Relocation costs will be covered.

    A valid passport is required; Paraguay requires a visa, vaccinations, and malaria prophylaxis when traveling in the interior (this cost is covered under the contract). Applicants should identify any medical or travel restrictions which would prevent them from traveling to specific countries. This information should be included in the 'Additional Information' area of the application.

    Duties will include travel to and work in Paraguay which could require great flexibility to handle expected and unexpected difficulties, such as living in the interior rain forest for much of the Pre-Service Training, traveling by boat or small plane, etc.

Duties:

  • Assist the Training Director in the development of the 11-week PST Calendar (COTE) in coordination with Program Managers, Language Coordinator and Technical Trainers.
    Participate in interviewing candidates for Technical Trainers, Language Coordinators or other staff as needed
    Research and identify ideal training communities in conjunction with Family Coordinator.
    Review and revise the Cross-cultural, Common Areas and Personal Safety curricula. Will work as a team with PTO, TD, Program Managers, and PCMOs.
    Assist TD in recruiting, monitoring, and when necessary, recommending termination of Technical Training staff.
    Develop and manage the implementation of the TOT program for new Technical Training staff (topics: PC Policies, writing session plans/competency objectives, counseling, feedback, documenting key events, adult education methodology, etc.).
    Coordinate on-going TOT with Language staff in conjunction with Language Coordinator.
    Review Technical Trainers' preparations, i.e., learning agreements, competencies, calendar of events/sequencing, etc.
    Assist the TD in planning and delivery of the orientation for the arrival of each training group.
    Design and implement Core Curriculum component of Training (including cross-cultural themes).
    With Program Managers' approval, contact PCVs as necessary to arrange for their participation in training events. Train all PCVs as appropriate prior to their participation in PST.
    Maintain updated database (talent bank) on contacts/consultants for PST/ISTs and future candidates for Technical Trainers
    Coordinate completion and photocopying of all technical training material, including the technical training manuals.
    Assist in developing training competencies, learning objectives, and evaluation techniques.
  • Plans, promotes, and develops educational programs and projects by stimulating activity and providing direction. Designs an appropriate program by analyzing the need for personnel, facilities, supplies and materials. Prepares a program plan and provides ongoing advice and assistance in the program's implementation.

    Manages training activities to ensure current and innovative processes are used in developing training competencies, learning objectives, and evaluation processes for both training activities and Trainee and Volunteer performance during and following training.. Displays leadership, monitors training implementation and reports on progress.
  • Assist the TD with the overall logistical planning of all training events.
    Support TD in implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (for Trainees) as needed, including serving as Duty Officer for PST.
    Monitor the work of the technical trainers.
    Monitor PCT's progress throughout PST (with input from LCFs & Tech. Trainer)
    Present the weekly training schedule to the group every Monday.
    Write up, distribute and tally bi-monthly PST Evaluations. Submit to TD.
    Attend weekly Training Staff planning meetings
    Coordinate the signing and delivery of all official documents needed for each PCT to be sent to PCO
    Attend all Round Table meetings during PST.
    Attend Tech. Training sessions. Give appropriate feedback to trainers based on observations of sessions.
    Ensure that all scheduled meetings (requisitions, reservations, integration of training, travel) are taking place and meeting training requirements and needs.
    Assist in all aspects of the Counterpart Orientation.
    Coordinate with Medical office re: training sessions, materials, and medical assistance PCTs may need.
    Assist with and maximizes integration of all training components
    Coordinate with Executive Secretary the logistics for Swearing-in (Security check, transportation, PCV speech, etc.)
  • Submit written final report to TD focusing on Technical and Core Curriculum Training at the end of each PST cycle.
    Complete a written evaluation of each Technical Trainer at the completion of his/her contract. Deliver evaluations to TD.
    Participate in round table discussion with PTO, CD and Programming Staff (APCDs, PTS),
    Coordinate the planning and implementation of two Program and Design Seminars for PCVs and contacts
    Participate in COS workshop in PST evaluation and planning session
    Other activities as needed
