Duties:

  • The employee serves as a Materials Handler and is responsible for receiving, storing, and assembling for issue and distribution, a wide variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving equipment, devices, and systems in the Construction Division Warehouse.
  • Performs duties related to developing plans for the storage and arrangement of materials in a warehouse or storage facility in accordance with agency regulations that determine the configuration set-up, movement, rearrangement, and traffic flow of materials. Organizes, arranges, stores, and removes materials from storage areas to prevent damage, deterioration, and loss.
  • Operates gasoline, diesel, or electric powered-wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers, or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions. Operates motor vehicles and/or vehicles that have special-purpose or auxiliary devices with simple functions and standard operating characteristics. Manipulates a variety of controls to operate equipment.

    Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing stock. Checks shipping documents to verify incoming and outgoing shipment. Identifies obvious damage to equipment and materials through visual inspection. Inspects incoming shipments for quantity, quality, and conditions; sorts and segregates material for storage. Reports discrepancies and damage to the team leader or supervisor.

    Prepares shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems. Insures correctness of quantities, identification criteria, and labeling. Updates inventory records and prepares reports on inventory status.
