  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps are normally for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Duties:

  • This position is located in the Office of Third Goal and Returned Volunteer Services (3GL), reporting to the 3GL Director. The mission of the Office of Third Goal and Returned Volunteer Services is to fulfill the Peace Corps' Third Goal - to promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans - and to provide career and transition assistance to returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs).

    The 3GL office comprises Returned Volunteer Services (RVS), World Wise Schools (WWS), and Third Goal initiatives such as Peace Corps Week. These programs help Americans gain a better understanding of other peoples and cultures, and support returned Volunteers in the promotion and use of skills and experiences developed through their Peace Corps service.

    The Marketing Specialist carries out a variety of communications activities, including development of outreach and marketing strategies, development and review of print/online content and promotional materials, web page management, and coordination of special events.
  • Develops web pages and online newsletters.
  • Participates in marketing campaigns.
  • Prepares marketing, publicity, and promotional materials for agency programs and events.
