Agency Marketing Statement:

  • This position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Enterprise Applications Support Division (EASD), Systems Engineering and Operations Branch (SEOB). As a Systems Architect with OJP there are two required core competencies to be demonstrated, Network Engineering and Security Operations. The incumbent is responsible for designing, planning and implementing technical upgrades and migration strategies for OJP LAN/WAN infrastructure. Demonstrated hands-on experience in troubleshooting network performance and familiar with Cisco network equipment and protocols. This position will also responsible for reviewing, testing, implementing, documenting, maintaining, monitoring, optimizing, protecting, and ensuring the security of OJP systems and services. The incumbent will also perform security vulnerability scan and risk analysis in accordance to Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and other federal guidelines and regulations, to include reviewing and remediating system's security vulnerabilities. Providing advice, guidance, and assistance to the Branch Chief in formulating and enunciating OJP's policies, positions and responses to current, emerging and anticipated applications matters and their applicability to OJP.

Duties:

  • Ensures, or participates in ensuring, the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

    Evaluates, acquires, configures, and uses software intended to ensure that automated systems are secure from unauthorized use, viral infection, and other problems that would compromise sensitive information in terms of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, or would compromise other aspects of overall system security.
  • Participates in, and/or performs, the planning, design, implementation, and/or management of an agency-wide enterprise network that integrates, aligns, and streamlines business, application, information, and technology architectures to support the mission, strategies, goals, structure, and processes of the agency.
