Trains Capitol Hill personnel on system operation, maintenance, and testing procedures, and continually provides advice and assistance to users.
Test equipment used may include one or more of the following: synchroscopes, spectrum analyzers, wave analyzers, distortion analyzers, voltage standing wave ratio indicators, measuring instruments such as micrometers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and ammeters.
Serves as a technical authority and expert on the newest and most technologically complex electronic systems.
Maintains and calibrates unusually complex precision measurement equipment, instruments, and instrumentation systems complicated by frequent engineering changes and developments. Performs design changes and major modifications to unconventional equipment in order to improve equipment range, or to provide new capabilities to identify phenomena or parameters of interest in test applications.
Adapts equipment to perform new or different functions to meet immediate objectives or assignments. These adaptations, in addition to the existing equipment, will be tested and evaluated using various types of electronic measuring instruments, including frequency and sweep oscillators, oscilloscopes, pulse generators and other related test equipment.
Services equipment that is designed or modified to measure elements such as infrared radiation, temperature, gas, vacuum, and other characteristics. Adds new circuits, controls, wiring, or units with very critical tolerances or operating characteristics.
Tests, operates and performs checkout procedures after repairs have been made to existing systems to ensure the test console and/ or fixture is functioning properly. Analyzes operating trends; proposes preventive maintenance down time to assure continued operating capability; and recommends units for overhaul or engineering evaluation for disposal.
Interacts with engineers, manufacturer's representatives, engineering personnel, and field personnel in troubleshooting and developing modifications, substitutions, or corrections to equipment to reduce breakdowns and/or simplify repairs, servicing, or operation.
