Duties:

    ***MUST HAVE JOURNEY-LEVEL EXPERIENCE IN AT LEAST TWO OF THE FOLLOWING TRADES: HVAC, ELECTRICAL, OR PIPEFITTING/PLUMBING***

    ***UNIVERSAL CFC LICENSE IS PREFERRED***

    This position is located in the Superintendent, Senate Office Buildings; Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Operations Division; Maintenance Branch. The incumbent is a Maintenance Mechanic Assistant Supervisor who assists the General Maintenance supervisor in directing Maintenance Mechanics performing air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing work in one of the General Maintenance Sections (evening or night).

  • Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.
  • Initiates repairs of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and electronic sensing controls that include centralized environmental monitoring and non-centralized building automation systems.
    Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment; repairs, modifies and relocates equipment on various special-purpose air conditioning units and systems that are frequently modified to provide specific and critical climatic conditions.

    Performs major and minor repairs on a variety of commercial and industrial systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulating air. Assignments include large projects with complex problems and those needing extensive repairs that required the incumbent's best judgment.
  • Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains, troubleshoots, tests and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
    Works from clear-cut oral and written instructions, blueprints, schematics, drawings, sketches, specifications, job orders, and wiring diagrams that indicate the nature of the repair or installation to be made; the layout and placement of circuitry, fixtures and control; and the types of wiring, parts and equipment installed.
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, other distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and layout the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment.
