    This position has a positive education requirement; therefore, a legible copy of your college transcripts is required.     Salary will be adjusted to include a 7.18% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA). Locality pay will be phased in and a gradually reducing COLA will continue to be paid through December 31, 2012. See the OPM website at: http://www.opm.gov/oca/cola/index.asp for additional information.

    Upon completion of 2 years of service in the Alaska Region, employees shall be eligible to have Region 10 partially fund their transfer from Alaska to another Forest Service (non-Research) position in the continental United States. Transfer-of-station costs the Alaska Region will pay for the employee and eligible family members are one-way transportation by Alaska Marine Highway System or commercial airline, transportation and storage of household goods, and movement of a privately-owned vehicle via Alaska Marine Highway System. The Forest Service gaining unit will pay for the remainder of the transfer-of-station costs. The entire cost of a transfer to a position in another Federal Agency will be paid for by the gaining Federal Agency.     Upon completion of 2 years of service in the Alaska Region and separation from Federal Government service, employees hired from outside Alaska whose move to Alaska was paid for by the Government will be entitled to Return Rights back to the continental United States, limited to the cost of return to the point of hire at the time of the initial move to Alaska. Return Rights costs the Alaska Region will pay for the employee and eligible family members are one-way transportation by Alaska Marine Highway System or commercial airline, transportation and storage of household goods, and movement of a privately-owned vehicle via Alaska Marine Highway System.     Upon completion of 2 years of service in the Alaska Region and entering into a new written 2-year agreement, employees hired from outside Alaska will be eligible for Overseas Employment Renewal Agreement Travel (OTRAT) when the transfer to the Alaska Region paid for by the Government and 1) was at the GS-09 level or below, or 2) at any GS level when the initial post of duty is other than Anchorage, Fairbanks, Girdwood, Juneau, Ketchikan, Seward or Sitka. Entitlement for OTRAT is based on the initial post of duty in Alaska and cannot be gained or lost due to subsequent transfer to another post of duty within the Alaska Region. OTRAT entitles the employee and eligible family members to round-trip airline transportation to the former home of record or lower cost, domestic destination for up to two trips within 5 years of the Reporting Date to their first post of duty in Alaska. Entitlement to a second OTRAT trip requires the employee fulfilling a second 2-year employment term within the Alaska Region.   • Performs duties related to the application and administration of permits.
  • Participates in the development of natural resource plans and policies for the organization.
