    This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 30 months, but may be extended up to 5 years. Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Duties:

  • Reviews a wide variety of records and reports including human resource-related and other records, instructions, policies, and documents related to Human Resources practices and procedures to analyze major aspects of Human Resources programs and issues and establish precedents for other technical experts to follow.
  • Uses Avue Digital Services (ADS) to provide operational Human Resources management advisory services and program support across multiple Human Resources functions, such as classification, recruitment and placement, and/or employee relations, relative to an assigned organization. Provides guidance and direction to managers on Human Resources issues. Provides counseling to employees regarding Human Resources programs.
  • Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-13 level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.

    Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.
  • Uses Avue Digital Services' (ADS) Recruitment, Retention and Staffing Module to plan and manage recruitment and placement programs and operations.
