The incumbent will, at least half time, be performing grants management duties in the Law Enforcement Incident-Based Statistics (LEIBS) Unit, in support of the National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCS-X) Initiative. The NCS-X Initiative is a partnership between BJS and the FBI to generate nationally-representative crime statistics using incident-based data on crimes reported to law enforcement agencies. NCS-X leverages the FBI's existing National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) by recruiting a sample of 400 law enforcement agencies to supplement the existing NIBRS data by providing their incident data to their state (or the federal) NIBRS data collection program. The LEIBS unit is actively engaged in recruiting the 400 sample agencies and has provided funding through the NCS-X project to both state and local agencies.
