Reviews proposed legislation, regulations, and policies on civil rights law matters. Prepares written documents including memoranda, reports, advisory opinions, and implementation recommendations. Addresses civil rights law issues including discrimination affiliated with age, disability, education, elections, employment, equal protection, ethnic group, gender, housing, insurance, national origin, public accommodations, race, religion, sexual orientation, or speech.
Assists the Commission with briefings and writing reports; and provides legal advice to the Commission and the Office of Civil Rights and Research Evaluation regarding investigations, guidance on the Commission's jurisdiction, and conducts legal sufficiency reviews of reports.
Reviews and analyzes current, pending or proposed legislation relating to civil rights, and prepares written analyses of the-legislation and recommendations regarding such legislation, and Researches and analyzes question of law by reference to applicable Federal or State statutes and regulations, local ordinances and case law and drafts memoranda on the basis of research and analysis.
