    The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is a Drug Free Workplace. Duties:

  • Provides technical guidance to contractor counterparts on documentation requirements, including problem reports and troubleshooting plans. Ensures that the contractor performs in accordance with established procedures and the product conforms to established specifications and requirements.
  • Conceives, designs, and develops specifications and estimates for facilities, structures, systems, and/or equipment.
  • Performs engineering project/program planning duties, such as scheduling and layout of operations, planning for budget requirements, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in tests and/or construction. Organizes, schedules, coordinates, and facilitates the timing, sequence, quality, quantity, and issues related to all such projects and work requests.
  • Provides advice and guidance when technical interpretation, opinion, or decisions are solicited. Consultations involve assessment of engineering design, modification, evaluations, specifications, construction or production, maintenance, improvements, repair, logistics support, operational capabilities and limitations, systems safety, or personnel training.
  • Formulates, presents, executes, and analyzes organizational budgets. Provides analysis of significant financial management issues.
  • Identifies and resolves problems related to agency programs or services.
  • Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-14 level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.

    Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.
