  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps are normally for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Duties:

  • Peace Corps has created a knowledge sharing extranet website using SharePoint Standard & Enterprise 2010 (SP 2010), that will be accessed by approximately 9000 Volunteers, up to 3000 staff, and eventually several hundred Peace Corps partners in the field. The site (PCLive) will include a resource library of official materials and field-produced materials, front-end modern browsing of site resources, and robust search capabilities. Site assets revolve around the programming and training sectors (Agriculture, Education, Health, Youth in Development, Community Economic Development, and Environment), several initiatives (Feed the Future, PEPFAR, Stomping Out Malaria) and other Volunteer-facing assets. Peace Corps has designed a high-level site architecture, design, interface, and taxonomy. A full-time employee will administer this website on a day to day basis along with the following responsibilities:

    - managing the roles, groups, and permissions of the users and communities of practice;
    - providing Tier 2 level support for PCLive users and Tier 1 level support for subordinate site/communities of practice administrators;
    - training subordinate site administrators on how to manage their sites as well as serving as Tier Level 1 support for their users
    - responsible for notifying users of any major site updates or modifications, and how it will affect the users and their processes- will manage and triage ongoing feedback from users from the help-desk system;
    - provide the daily global updates for all news feeds, photographs, and human interest stories;
    - will be responsible for liaising with appropriate staff offices and other stakeholders to ensure their requirements are being met
    - reporting usage statistics and other metrics;
    - manage document workflows based upon user requirements to include management of records retention policies as they apply to an electronic environment;
    - responsible for all content curation
    - prepares articles for OPATS newsletter showcasing aspects of PCLive and works with the editor/graphic designer to develop and deliver PCLive marketing materials;
    - serve as an advisor to the communities of practice on how to best leverage PCLive to support those communities;
    - co-facilitates the PCLive site administrators' community of practices.
    - works with the OCIO support team on system issues, updates to the features and functionalities of PCLive;
    - designs and builds the site structure, branding, look-and-feel, user interface and user stories as PCLive requirements change
    - enters user stories/new requirements in the PCLive backlog system;
    - ensures that PCLive adheres to best practices and industry standards for web development, design, compliance, and project development.
    - develops usability plans/surveys/tests to ensure we are getting feedback from our users and are responding to their needs.
