The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) has an opening for a Public Affairs Specialist to join our dedicated team and gain invaluable experience working in the public interest to support the fair administration of justice.

Duties:

  • The incumbent will serve as the Senior Advisor to CSOSA management on public affairs activities or programs. Performs work related to public affairs program activities, such as coordinating news and information media interviews, developing communication plans, coordinating agency information programs, evaluating agency public affairs programs. Evaluates impacts and effectiveness of public affairs programs.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the general public, the news and information media, key officials, agency stakeholders, industry representatives, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate program information which results in an understanding of CSOSA's mission and activities.
  • Plans and directs all phases of CSOSA audio-visual production, including guiding the work of print and electronic media reporting. Writes press releases for distribution to the media. Researches and analyzes electronic and print media regarding criminal justice and corrections issues. Produces television shows and social media programs.

    Prepares talking points for executive use at meetings, when engaging the media or for other purposes.

    Responsible for managing the development, distribution, and maintenance of print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, journal articles and agency websites.

    Provides oversight for the generation of online content that engages diverse audience segments and leads to measurable action.

    Contributes to publications and reports. Selects and organizes materials written by others for publication, report, or analysis.

    Serves as the agency point of contact and coordinates visits of guests to CSOSA facilities and events.
