  • This position is located in Region One, on the Flathead National Forest-Supervisors Office, in the Engineering and Administrative Services Section (GIS). The primary purpose of this position is to provide Internet/Intranet Web Management for the Flathead National Forest, and 3 to 5 additional R-1 Forests/Units. Duties include developing, maintaining, upgrading, and enhancing the forest web pages and providing technical computer support related to the web management and activities to forest personnel involved in web issues. Assists web users with posting web information using appropriate technology and tools.

Duties:

  • Provides support and assists in maintaining an organizations Web site(s) according to predetermined guidelines. Edits source code to place new pages in the appropriate location on the Web site. Tests new pages to ensure correct formatting, optimum display of graphics, and properly functioning links. Publishes pages on the Web server. Ensures that new Web pages are consistent with relevant design and formatting standards. Advises content developers on Web page requirements. Reviews and introduces enhancements to navigational requirements.

    Responsible for a variety of Web server administration routines and special projects, including daily updating of the organizations Web sites, maintenance and monitoring of Web services, and general user support. Maintains and monitors Web and/or e-Government services. Coordinates efforts with network and security specialists to ensure compliance with applicable policies.

    Diagnoses and troubleshoots Web site operational problems such as broken links or file directory, server, or applications problems. Makes corrections and restores functionality. Fine-tunes Web pages and other Internet services to ensure compatibility with different browsers. Tests new browser versions for compatibility with existing services.
