This position is located in the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Washington, DC. OVC's mission is to enhance the Nation's capacity to assist crime victims and to provide leadership in changing attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing for all victims of crime. The OVC is one of five bureaus and four offices with grant-making authority within OJP, U.S. Department of Justice. The incumbent will oversee a variety of communications, contract, and outreach activities to disseminate OVC-related information to the field and will work with national, international, state, military, local and tribal victim assistance and criminal justice agencies to promote fundamental rights and comprehensive services for crime victims.

Duties:
Implements the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) communications program, including development, production, and dissemination of print and electronic media; the national information and reference support services provided through the National Criminal Justice Reference Service and related support contracts; coordination with OJP's Office of Communications on public affairs and media-related activities; and the preparation of information, resources, and materials to advance the communications goals of OVC.

Reviews and evaluates existing communication plans for disseminating information about changes in program emphasis or content for a wide variety of subjects related to OVC programs. Determines the most expeditious and appropriate avenues for disseminating information to the public and arranges for mass dissemination of information materials.

Establishes and maintains relationships with the general public, the news and information media, key officials, agency stakeholders, industry representatives, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate program information which results in an understanding of the agency's mission and activities.
