  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 60 months. Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

    This position is located in the Peace Corps' Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection, Southwest Regional Recruiting Office located in Dallas, Texas. The Regional Administrative Officer assumes a wide range of financial, administrative, budgetary and accounting operations for the Southwest Regional Office. The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgment in these areas and to give professional advice and guidance to the Regional Office Manager in budgetary, financial and administrative areas based on a thorough understanding of Federal government and Peace Corps financial, budgetary and contractual policies and procedures as applicable to the Regional Recruiting Office. It is expected that the Administrative Officer will work independently under the general supervision of the Regional Office Manager.

Duties:

  • The Regional Administrative Officer assists the Regional Office Manager in a wide range of financial, administrative, personnel and contractual operations. Major duties include formulating, executing and monitoring the office's budget developing internal fiscal controls to provide information on funds availability and status of accounts.
  • Performs surveys, studies, and evaluations to measure and improve program operations and results.
  • Provides administrative support for procurement and contracting functions, coordinating and advising on contracting, leasing and purchasing.
  • Plans, coordinates and monitors a variety of administrative services. Advises on management operations, practices, policies and procedures used in the regional office. Serves as property manager and is responsible for managing supplies and equipment tracking and inventory.
    Provides guidance on the adherence to the Peace Corps' travel guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Serves as point of contact for personnel operations for the regional office performing liaison tasks to support human resources administration
