Duties:

  • Serves as Regional program manager, develops program priorities, provides strategic direction, leads responses to national direction, coordinates implementation of national and regional initiatives, evaluates programs and supports and mentors program colleagues in the field.
  • Expert advisor in the fields of natural and cultural interpretation, stewardship ethics, conservation education, visitor services, and visitor center management; providing interpretive/visitor services support to the full array of natural and cultural resource disciplines (e.g., trails, wilderness, heritage, wildlife, watershed, forest management, etc.).
  • Coordinates: Media exposure to elevate public awareness and prepares news releases, press kits, and other media vehicles promoting interpretive, stewardship ethics, conservation education, and visitor services program activities; interpretive association relationships; stewardship ethics programs; youth outreach programs; and proposal reviews for development and construction of interpretive facilities and exhibits.

    Represents Regional management: At national meetings; on inter- or intra-agency committees, task forces, or work groups that require expert knowledge of agency policies, practices, and interests; and in internal and external networking with senior USDA Forest Service management, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies, universities and colleges, conservation groups, corporations and other governmental and non-governmental public and private entities.
