  • This is a permanent full-time position is located on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest (NF) in Vancouver, WA. This position will service the Gifford Pinchot NF, the Mt. Hood NF, and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (CRGNSA). There will be some limited travel to the Mt. Hood NF and CRGNSA.

    Open to current permanent Forest Service (FS) employees with competitive status. Applicants outside the FS, i.e., current or former permanent Federal employees in the competitive service who have held the target grade of the position or higher, persons with disabilities, 30% or more disabled veterans, VRA eligibles, certain military spouses, former Peace Corps/VISTA volunteers may apply and receive concurrent consideration. Promotable candidates outside the FS will not be considered.

Duties:

  • Administers transportation fleet and equipment program operations. Assists in transportation and fleet equiment utilization studies, and recommends methods for improvement. Considers the fleet replacement program, fllet buildups, holdovers, project equipment, and commercial renetals to gain the best economical mix to meet program needs. Performs a variety of routine program analysis duties to ensure transportation program sucess.
  • Provides advice and guidance on a variety of transportation program issues, such as maintenance, safety, fuel efficiency, and fleet size.
  • Collects, verifies, and adjusts information expressed numerically and/or graphically and prepares guidelines or training manuals for the above.
