    TOUR OF DUTY: Monday -Friday 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Duties:

  • This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Operating Officer,Superintendent, Capitol Building, Masonry Division.

    The incumbent of this position is responsible for the care, maintenance and repair of the interior and exterior marble, stone and brick of the U.S. Capitol Building. Specifically, duties include but are not limited to the following: Performs decorative finishing and repair on marble and stone structures. Maintain and repair tile and terrazzo. Lays brick and concrete block, cuts openings in walls and exposed surfaces, demolishes masonry walls and staircases. Builds new walls and reconfigures existing walls that may be made up of many different types of stone and block. Cuts, shapes and finishes stone including marble, granite and limestone. Conducts demolition of masonry walls and staircases. Helps plan, lay out, lead and direct the work of temporary and lower-graded stone masons and brick masons on major construction and/or repair jobs. Reviews work to be performed, interprets blueprints or sketches and decides work methods or processes best suited to complete the work.

    Performs other duties as assigned.
