Agency Marketing Statement:

  • This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Budget Formulation, Liaison, Planning and Performance Division (BFLPPD). The incumbent serves as Division Chief and is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to the managers and supervisors responsible for the following areas of responsibility. Oversees and manages the budget formulation, appropriations liaison, and strategic planning and programmatic performance measurement functions for the agency. Develops and manages budget operations for an organization with multiple major subcomponents (Bureau and Program Offices), each with diverse, multi-year, substantive programs. The incumbent is responsible for the development of policies and procedures that support the externally mandated Congressional Budget process.

Duties:

  • Oversees and manages the organization's budget operations. Establishes budget policy for the organization served. Provides instruction to management officials during budget calls and other budget formulation processes.
  • Serves as advisor to the Assistant Attorney General (AAG), Bureau Directors, and Program Office Heads on the establishment of policies and procedures to ensure that funds for assigned programs are within the limitations set forth by the appropriation, apportionments, and allotments. Prepares justifications for estimates to be used in the presentation/enactment of the budget. Presents budget estimates and justifications to top management officials. Prepares and participates in the presentation of budget estimates and requests before the DOJ OJP executive group and/or before Congressional appropriations committees.
  • Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-14 level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
