  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

    This position is located in the Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection. The incumbent serves as a Regional Recruiter assigned to the Los Angeles Regional Recruitment Office and reports to that office's Regional Recruitment Supervisor. The purpose of the position is to build public awareness of all Peace Corps programs and to meet assigned production goals by recruiting, screening and nominating qualified and suitable Volunteer applicants.

Duties:

  • Performs work related to developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in various levels of government, private industry, and/or academic institutions to communicate and disseminate information about program mission and activities.
  • Performs surveys, studies, and evaluations to measure and improve program operations and results.
  • Performs duties in support of the information, internal communications, and liaison activities for volunteer recruitment and selection. Acts as a liaison with persons or groups within and/or outside of the organization to disseminate information about program requirements.

    Participates in marketing campaigns.

    Establishes and maintains relationships with the general public, the news and information media, key officials, agency stakeholders, industry representatives, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate program information which results in an understanding of the agency's mission and activities.
