The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia (CSOSA) has an opening for a Staff Psychologist Psychometrist GS-0180-13 located in the Re-Entry Sanctions Center, Office of Co-occurring Disorders. The successful candidate provides the full range of assessment and counseling services to offenders/defendants and is a Certified Psychologist and must have a doctoral degree Ph.D. or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) for independent practice as a psychologist at the GS-13 level and working on the license at the GS-0180-12 level. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of professionals and gain invaluable experience working in the public interest to improve public safety in the District of Columbia. Duties:

  • The incumbent must be certified by the State or the National Association of Psychologists as a Staff Psychologist and conducts interviews, uses rating scales, questionnaires or other measurement devices, or observes the patient to assess emotional, functional or psychological condition.
    The incumbent is the Staff Psychologist and has developed expert professional mastery of the assessment tools available to effectively diagnose abnormalities or variations thereof in the specialized area of psychology of offenders/defendants. The incumbent uses professional masters level expertise of assessment tools to effectively diagnose at the full performance level and is fully credential as clinical counselor and certified psychometrist and performs duties for assessment of abnormalities or variations thereof in the specialized area of psychology of offenders/defendants.
    The incumbent assists to develop new assessment or measurement devices for the specialization, and provide a practical research environment for assessment in the specialized area of psychology of offenders/defendants.

    Uses data for comprehensive psychodiagnosis on which to base treatment.
    Conducts psycho-social interviews and performs other data collection to obtain information about offenders/defendants, including history of substance abuse, educational and vocational history, family relationships and history, socioeconomic status, and medical history and status.

    Coordinates and conducts in-service training for counselors and other case managers in test administration procedures. Assists in interpreting formal and informal diagnostic evaluations made by counselors and/or other case managers.
    Adapts protocols to resolve complex problems that arise in managing case files for a wide range of social services program participants. Handles all aspects of case management for a large case load including collecting and analyzing information, preparing case histories, presenting information in interdisciplinary team meetings, and drafting written work products.
