    This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 30 months, but may be extended up to 5 years. Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination

Duties:

  • This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and reports to the Financial Systems Technical Manager. As an IT Program Specialist the incumbent is primarily responsible for managing the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of FOR Post, the Agency's foreign financial tracking system. The employee also has first-line responsibility for the management, integration, and support of new applications with existing internal and/or on-line Oracle based applications. The IT Program Specialist will work in both the 2.0 and 3.5 .NET frameworks. Financial Systems supports Odyssey which utilizes Oracle E-Business Suite and SQL server and .NET applications, with an increasing emphasis on deployment of these systems via the Internet and/or World Wide Web..

    Performs work involving the analysis, design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software. Participates in implementing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software or developing customized applications. Prepares inputs, outputs, flow diagrams, decision logic tables, and linkages with other applications systems.
  • Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of the systems. Recovers data in the event of hardware or software failure.
  • Installs and maintains Web-based systems, Web-based information services, or Web-based research tools and e-Government operations.
