ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


I possess a current appropriate local, state, or national licensure or certification as Clinical Psychologist; Licensed Mental Health Counselor, License Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), OR comparable license in a social science discipline such as psychology or social work is required. I am also a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider. Proof of my current licensure(s) is/are attached.

To determine your eligibility for a primary law enforcement position, indicate whether you meet the following age requirement: I am under age 37; OR, after subtracting the months of Federal Service worked in a primary law enforcement/firefighter position, I am less than age 37; OR I am a veterans¿ preference eligible, I am older than age 37 and am requesting a waiver to the maximum age requirement.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS


A. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in the behavioral or social sciences, or in a related discipline that included at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours in the behavioral or social sciences.


OR


B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


OR


C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12.


Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. An example of such experience is functioning as a liaison/expert among the supervision staff and the treatment vendor regarding treatment placement and services. Coordinate with the supervision and diagnostic teams in developing risk-reduction efforts, evidence-based treatment strategies and targeted interventions. Participate in staff meetings and weekly supervision (group and individual) with assigned SOT Specialist and collaborates with mental health providers, custody, living unit, and stakeholders regarding dynamic risk and the management of assigned sex offender clients.

    MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: Because this position is covered under Law Enforcement Officer retirement provisions, first-time law enforcement appointees must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of appointment. Applicants 37 or older who have previous law enforcement officer experience under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) or the Federal Employees Retirement Systems (FERS) may have their previous law enforcement officer experience subtracted from their age to determine whether they meet the maximum entry age requirement. Duties:

  • SOTS responsibilities include assessing and completing documentation on an assigned caseload of sex offenders. Completes the intake using the agency approved risk/needs assessment and complete an Individual Treatment Plan for each client. Facilitate behavioral change in offenders, conduct specialty groups, and liaise with Risk Management Staff to assist transition of sex offenders. Present case load information to committees related to offender planning, risk management issues, and transition

    Plans, schedules, and conducts projects and studies to evaluate and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of program or project operations.
  • Acts as a liaison and/or consultant with the vendor(s), other CSOSA staff, and national professional organizations regarding program issues and requirements.
  • Establishes a continuing relationship with the offenders, evaluating progress towards goals, performing follow-up after referral or if the offender misses an appointment, and adjusts treatment plan if results are inadequate.
