Duties:

  • Oversees the administration of priority statistical collections. Uses subject-matter expertise in criminal justice, data collection methodology (including surveys), and data analysis and presentation to develop, execute, and report on studies.

    Serves as a key technical consultant to other Department of Justice components seeking to improve their collection, analysis, and reporting of data. Aids the BJS Director in their role as DOJ Statistical Official by serving as a subject matter expert on data collection and analysis.
  • Conducts research in methodological issues in measuring biases in data from various subpopulation groups. Designs and executes a program of original in-depth studies which apply quantitative analysis and sophisticated statistical techniques to data collected.

    Conducts strategic planning with respect to survey design, analytic direction, and workload management. Identifies opportunities for BJS to collaborate with other federal statistical agencies and contributes to shared knowledge in the federal statistical community.
