  • The position of User Support Specialist is a full-time position and operates as a member of the IT Division within the Shared Administrative Services (SAS) division for the District. This position provides automation support to the end users of the U.S. District Court and U.S. Probation Office in a manner that is consistent with the courts vision, mission and end-user needs. This position reports directly to the Director of IT, who reports to the Clerk of Court and Chief U.S. Probation Officer.

Duties:

  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    The User Support Specialist provides technical support to all U.S. District Court Judges and District Court employees as well as all U.S. Probation employees. Representative duties include, but are not limited to:
    Serve as the first (or main) point of contact for users (judges, court staff and probation officers) seeking technical assistance in person, by telephone, ticket or email.
    Respond to help desk calls, emails, and web requests, and resolve in a timely manner or escalate to the next level of support.
    Assist users experiencing difficulties in the use of office applications such as word processing, email browsers, Adobe Acrobat, and other software programs used by the court.
    Handle moves, new setups and change in computer equipment and peripherals such as printers, scanners, projectors, and copiers. Replace or upgrade software and hardware as directed. Test operating systems, browsers, and applications prior to deployment.
    Educate users on the use of court hardware and software via individual help sessions, demonstrations, classes and written referenced materials.
    Provide support for mobile computing devices and remote support to teleworkers, staff in other office locations, and employee in travel status.
    Provide basic support for the VoIP telephone system.
    Assist with testing, establishing and monitoring video and telephone conferences.
    Identify and respond to trends in support requests and/or unusual activity.
    Other duties as assigned.
