  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

    This position is located in a Regional Recruitment Office under the jurisdiction of the Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection, Peace Corps. The incumbent serves as a Volunteer Recruiter under the direct supervision of the Regional Recruitment Supervisor and subsequently the Regional Manager. The incumbent is assigned to an alternative work station remote from the regional office. The purpose of the position is to recruit qualified applicants for volunteer service in the Peace Corps and to build awareness of all Peace Corps programs.

Duties:

  • Screens candidates' to determine suitability, competitiveness, and professional qualifications and/or skills for Peace Corps volunteer service. Assesses candidates' skills, suitability, and legal status to determine appropriate processing actions. Enters and tracks applicant information and status updates through agency information systems and database programs.
  • Coordinates and monitors strategy contracts, including training and orientation of campus representatives and other university staff.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the general public, the news and information media, key officials, agency stakeholders, industry representatives, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate agency recruitment and program information.
  • Plans and coordinatesrecruitment campaigns and prepares written reports highlighting relevant campaign plans, activities, and results.
