OJP has partnered with the Vida Fitness Center, located in the Verizon Center for your physical fitness needs.   • Are you interested in working for a cutting edge agency with a mission to improve public safety, and the fair administration of justice? If so, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs, (OJP), is seeking a high performing individual to serve as an Information Technology Specialist (Network Services).

Notes:

  • This position is located in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). Manages agency-wide IT projects and initiatives that involved innovative concepts or approaches where precedents did not exist, where large numbers of people or multiple agencies were affected, and where there was a significant impact on the delivery of customer support services. Leads large, IT projects with high risk, such as Big Data analysis or other high interest, mission-critical projects.

Duties:

  • Analyzes, designs, develops, customizes, and implements a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large-scale LAN/WAN systems including protocols, simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) management systems, communications controllers, bridges, routers, and other network devices that support extensive operations. Designs, implements and supports Voice over IP (Voice over IP); Unified Commutation Technology such as (WebEx on Premise, Jabber, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC)); Wireless Infrastructure. Experience in designing, building uniform multiservice network such as data, voice and video; WAN technologies; and Multicast networks.
  • Manages and provides authoritative guidance for an agency-wide WAN system. Provides expert technical advice to LAN/WAN administrators throughout DOJ OJP. Identifies and controls all WAN hardware and software configurations. Develops technical standards and procedures for WAN development, implementation, and management. Establishes performance management metrics and evaluates overall WAN performance against relevant standards.
  • Provides authoritative research and analysis on issues associated with the planning, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of information technology (IT) systems and subsystems that meet overall information needs of multiple major organizational units. For example, analyzed and reconciled conflicts between agency mission objectives and system technology requirements, such as leading evaluations of an agency's business processes and information technology infrastructure to determine the feasibility of adopting enterprise solutions to resolve business problems.
  • Plans and manages agency-wide IT projects involving innovative concepts or approaches where precedents do not exist, and large numbers of people or multiple agencies are affected. For example, leads large, inter-governmental information technology (IT) projects with high risk, such as E-Gov or other high interest, mission-critical projects.
  • Serves as DOJ OJP's expert on policy development for national IT programs or projects with precedent-setting issues. Formulates long-range policies and develops strategies and management guidelines for complex and changing information technology systems. Provides high level technical advice and counsel to top management and other key officials on matters relating to new or modified policies and directives that affect or relate to current and existing IT projects and programs.
