  • This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of Justice Programs (OJP). The incumbent of this position is a Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist serving as the Director for the Enterprise Infrastructure and Engineering Division (EIED), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), who reports, in turn, to the Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG). The incumbent is responsible for providing stable and secure operations and reliable client services across the OJP enterprise and inclusive of a broad range of technology, platforms, and functions. The incumbent will ensure that all processes and systems are efficiently and effectively delivered by leveraging shared service infrastructure and automation offerings and opportunities; and by implementing industry standards and "best practices". The incumbent will provide overall direction for the EIED scope of services including; staffing models, processes, designs, and operational metrics that are required to effect the EIED mission and assumes leadership for proactive planning, problem solving and project management. Other areas of responsibility include: data center strategy and operation, distributed technology operations, cloud computing, business continuation planning, enterprise network and telecommunications, and capacity planning.

Duties:


  • Supervises a group of employees performing work at the GS-14 level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.

    Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.

  • Responsible for the operations and maintenance of OJP's enterprise infrastructure. This includes monitoring systems and communications, delivering system administration services; provision of IT Enterprise Architecture integration and engineering support; provision of server and storage infrastructure; disaster recovery, enterprise backup services; media management, facilities management, and after-hours help desk. Plans, directs, and coordinates personal computer, local area network (LAN) services, telecommunications infrastructure and services, and overall enterprise infrastructure support for those program and business offices within OJP. Serves as the focal point for OJP's office automation solutions and services and provides related information, guidance, support, and organizational policy. Provides user assistance and informational services needed to facilitate user interaction OJP's enterprise infrastructure. Addresses all problems and questions related to the use of the OJP's Information Technology (IT) resources.

  • Ensures that the operations and maintenance of OJP's enterprise infrastructure are founded upon and compliant with, OJP's enterprise Architecture and are adherent to OJP's "Defense in Depth" approach. The "Defense in Depth" approach relies on the layering of people, processes, technologies, and operations to achieve more secure Federal information systems and recognizes that all protection mechanisms have weaknesses that can be exploited through several paths. Provides input, plans, develops, and implements agency-wide information security programs and strategies
