Duties:

  • The Macroeconomic Analysis Division is seeking a macroeconomist with a broad range of interests, including fiscal policy, public finance, and macroeconomic forecasting. The division assesses the macroeconomic effects of federal fiscal policy over the short and long runs, analyzes emerging developments in the economy, and prepares a semiannual economic forecast. The divisions portfolio of analysis covers a wide range of issues, including fiscal and monetary policy, international trade policies, immigration reform, and health care reform. The position involves analyzing such issues, writing reports describing the analyses, and carrying out original economic research. The successful candidate will contribute to the full range of the divisions responsibilities, which include constructing and improving cutting-edge models that underlie CBOs policy analyses, preparing longer-term studies, and assessing the economic effects of specific pieces of legislation. Staff members are encouraged to participate actively in policy research that is related to CBOs mission by presenting papers at conferences, publishing them as CBO working papers, and writing articles for professional journals.
