Duties:
The Health, Retirement, and Long-Term Analysis Division (HRLD) is seeking an experienced health economist to contribute to a variety of projects, analyses, and modeling on issues related to prescription drugs.
HRLDs recently completed work includes multiple analyses of how changes to the Affordable Care Act would affect insurance coverage and federal health care spending, an analysis of prices for and spending on specialty drugs, an analysis of the key design components and considerations for establishing a single-payer health care system, and long-term projections of spending in federal health care programs. Ongoing work includes studies about prescription drugs, single-payer systems, the Medicare Advantage program, preventive health services, populations enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid, and factors affecting the prices of medical care. Analysts are also encouraged to turn projects and independent research into CBO working papers and outside publications. The successful candidate will help develop new studies about prescription drugs and will help design and improve the analytical models that underlie them.
