  • This is an Excepted Service appointment under the Pathways Intern Program.

    If you are graduating from your current academic program in the Spring of 2021, you may not be eligible for this student appointment unless you are accepted for enrollment for the Fall of 2021 at a qualifying educational institution seeking an additional qualifying degree, diploma, certificate, etc. or an advanced degree. You MUST submit proof of acceptance along with your current transcripts for consideration.

    Positions may be filled either on a Full-Time or Part-Time basis. Schedules may be adjusted during school breaks and the summer period.


Duties:

  • The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). At OJP, we provide federal leadership, grants, training, technical assistance and other resources to improve the nation's capacity to prevent and reduce crime, assist victims and enhance the rule of law by strengthening the criminal and juvenile justice systems. We support state and local crime-fighting efforts, fund thousands of victim service programs, help communities manage sex offenders, address the needs of youth in the system and children in danger, and provide vital research and data. We are a diverse workforce of talented employees representing a wide array of professional disciplines, including: accountants, analysts, attorneys, grant/project managers, IT specialists, policy advisors, public affairs specialists, researchers, scientists, statisticians, writer/editors, and more.     Under the Pathways Internship Program, you will work closely with OJP professional and technical staff in coordinating, facilitating, and implementing activities in support of the mission and goals of DOJ, OJP, and your assigned office. You will perform a variety of assignments designed to broaden your skills and provide you with practical experience to support you in performing progressively complex assignments. Your duties will be based on your assigned office and may include:

    Assisting in day-to-day operations through performing a mixture of routine and sometimes complex tasks.

    Performing a variety of program support functions, such as inputting, assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work status and records as well as administering and performing other support activities.

    Assisting specialists/analysts in developing material for briefings, reports, presentations and conferences needed by supervisors and executive management.

    Assisting management in collecting, organizing and maintaining program and/or functional documentation and materials.

    Preparing a variety of correspondence, memoranda, and information.

    Participating in meetings, briefings, and events.

    Participating in required professional training that supports the goals of your assigned office and your internship goals.
