Duties:

  • Processes and adjudicates personnel security investigations for both public-trust and National Security Information (NSI) federal and contractor positions using prescribed standards and procedures set forth by the Department, OPM, and DCSA.

    Reviews, analyzes and resolves personnel security matters for cases involving conflicting or insufficient data, evidence, or testimony needed to warrant a suitability or adjudicative decision or recommendation to OJP's Security Program Managers.

    Conducts personnel security interviews and forwards the investigation information to the proper investigative authority. Ensures suitability for employment or retention of employees and contractors in public trust and sensitive positions. Analyzes and evaluates the duties assigned to positions, relating them to established position sensitivity criteria to ensure the positions are properly designated for the correct sensitivity levels, identifies problems, recommends corrective actions, and provides assistance on procedural issues.
  • Reviews security forms submitted by potential federal hires, contractor personnel or current employees undergoing an reinvestigation or upgrade using all automated security systems, in a paperless environment, such as OPM's E-Qip database, NP2 portal, CVS, JSTARS and OJP's talent management system to receive, review, route, approve and archive all security forms and documentation.

    Prepares and coordinates OJP's Annual Personnel Security Reinvestigation Program. Manages and implements annual JSTARS reviews to identify both federal employees and contractors that are required to undergo periodic background investigation utilizing automated reporting features in JSTARS. Tracks each case to completion and ensures that all corresponding JSTARS records are updated with the reinvestigation results.

    Participates in the development of new plans, schedules, or methods to accommodate changing Annual Reinvestigation Program or the Adjudicator's role the USAccess for project requirements. Determines approach to achieve objectives, identifies specific project steps, and contributes to the composition of meeting schedules, information sources, and other project requirements.
