If so, the Department of Justice (DOJ), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences is seeking a high performing individual to serve as a Policy Analyst.

Notes:

  • This position is located in the U. S. Department of Justice (USDOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice's (NIJ) Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences (OIFS). NIJ's mission is to advance scientific research, development and evaluations to enhance the administration of justice and public safety. NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to meet the challenges of crime and justice, particularly at the State and local levels. The incumbent serves as Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences and will support the National Commission on Forensic Science.

Duties:

  • Researches administrative or program related materials on forensic science policy related inititatves and/or activities, and presents findings and recommendations in written, verbal, or other form to program, administrative, and/or management officials.
  • Provides advice and guidance, including interpretations, opinions, or decisions, regarding programs or policies. Consultations involve assessment of program or policy conditions, phenomena, or anomalies.
  • Researches and/or analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements. Prepare memoranda, letters, reports, position papers and other written documentation that support forensic science policy development.

    Serves as recognized authority, expert, and leader in a specialized criminal justice or physical science field.

    Provide comprehensive advice to agency stakeholders on State and local law enforcement, crime lab functions and activities, such as casework analysis, accreditation/certification processess, automation, proficiency testing, validation studies, training and education.
