  • The U.S. Commission On Civil Rights (USCCR) has an immediate need for a Civil Rights Analyst within the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys (CSSBMB). We are transforming for the future and we are looking for a leader who possesses critical competencies to lead the effort to acquire material items and services. CCR takes on matters pertaining to civil rights that affect the United States and its citizens.   • Ensure a writing sample is attached to your application in response to the competency, "Ability to communicate in writing." Ensure that the writing sample relates to civil rights program and policies.


    The incumbent must prepare drafts of proposals and reports as directed by the Subcommittees, organize and perform outreach to conduct meetings where Subcommittees hear testimony on civil rights issues, and research and analyze data and recommendations in the transcripts from those meetings.

    This vacancy announcement may be used to fill more than one vacancy for the Civil Rights Analyst position, up to one year.


    These positions will be filled at the GS-11 or GS-12 level. Upon completion of qualification requirements and satisfactory performance, the selectee may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade, up to the full performance level of GS-13.

Duties:

  • Provides guidance and technical assistance in the identification and definition of civil rights problems and their causes. Develops or assists in the development of recommendations for public policies that will lead to the solution of civil rights issues and problems.
  • Plans, conducts, and reports on research and studies in the field of civil rights and equal opportunity, in areas such as employment, housing, education, transportation, credit, and voting rights. Investigates program areas or policies in education, housing, or employment; the civil rights problems of certain classes such as the physically handicapped, veterans, women, or others; or broad civil rights issues or problems from a legal, economic, or historical perspective.
