KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


Expert knowledge of Network Data Management Protocol backup and recovery with VERITAS NetBackup BusinesServer required to serve as Agency expert and use NetBackup BusinesServer as a performance backup and recovery solution for UNIX, Windows NT and Windows 2000 workgroups, and to use Data Protection Management 2006 to back up the SQL Server database.

Expert knowledge of switched fabric networks required to serve as Agency expert to develop switched fabric networks that form a mesh network with devices being on the "edges" of the mesh, and to use zone management in director class switch level fiber switched environment as a central switch to other fabrics in the network.

Expert knowledge of File Cache Accelerator Logical Unit Numbers required to serve as Agency expert and use Logical Unit Numbers on the File Cache Accelerator to individually map to specific servers in the Storage Area Networks by using standard fibre channel networks.

Expert knowledge of Storage Area Network architecture required to serve as agency technical expert to use File Cache Accelerator and other security systems and Storage Area Network architecture.

Expert knowledge of network attached storage (NAS) required to serve as Agency technical expert and develop Agency NetAppliance Filers using Network Appliance innovative Data ONTAP, microkernel OS and Write Anywhere File Layout file system for security access, backup, recovery.


MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Grade 13:


Qualifying experience for the GS-13 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Examples of specialized experience include experience analyzing a number of alternative approaches when advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design. The experience demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments requiring knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled.

Duties:

  • Mastery of and skill to apply advanced information technology principles and practices sufficient to install, upgrade and manage Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager ( SCCM) and IBM BigFix Patch Management System.
  • Mastery of and skill to advanced Information Technology principles and practices sufficient to stall, upgrade and manage Microsoft Windows 2008, 2012 servers and Microsoft Windows Active Directory as the core component of the package to provide the operating system that allows communication of hardware for over 1500 devices in a production environment as well as develop, customize, and implement a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large- scale LAN/WAN systems.
  • Plans and delivers customer support services, including installations, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements.
  • Performs work involved in applying analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations.

    Performs needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions. Consults with customers to identify and specify requirements, and to develop overall functional and systems requirements. Develops cost estimates of new or modified systems and plans their implementation.
