  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

    This position is located in the Peace Corps' Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection (VRS), Washington D.C. Regional Recruitment Office and reports to the Director of Recruitment. The incumbent manages the Washignton, D.C. Recruitment office and is responsible for all Volunteer recruitment and nominations for that region. Duties include developing, implementing and monitoring strategic plans for national regional recruiting activities. Oversees the development and implementing of media strategies for recruitment campaigns. Oversees the evaluation, matching and nomination of applicants to meet Peace Corps goals; establishes and maintains region-wide relationships with community and institutional contacts. Formulates and executes the Regional Office budget overseeing the preparation of budget submissions and related reports, approving and monitoring expenditures.

Duties:

  • Participates in, coordinates, and/or manages agency programs and projects.
  • Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised. Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members. Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Carries out Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and program activities.
  • Plans strategies and completes actions related to recruitment of applicants, completion of job analyses and workforce planning activities to determine recruitment priorities and strategies; and provision of advice for identifying, attracting, and retaining a high-quality and diverse workforce.
  • Plans and manages projects from the concept development stage through implementation and management. Identifies requirements, develops technical and administrative approaches, and coordinates project resources, including project costs, human resources, scheduled completion timeframes, etc.
