  • This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps are normally for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Duties:

  • This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. The Financial Manager, Global Accounts Payable, provides technical assistance, direction and oversight to the payment processes required to support US Peace Corps programs in the United States and overseas. Duties include development and implementation of financial management policies and procedures on all aspects of payment processing, management of voucher examination, certification and disbursement functions, and continuous assessment of accounting systems and internal policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with Agency and Federal requirements.

    Provides analysis and advice on financial matters to program officials, managers, and resource administrators. Performs duties associated with the management, control, and usage of financial resources or funds. Supplies financial reports to operating program officials for informational and planning purposes. Plans and conducts studies to determine the requirement for updated financial information. Computes and forecasts effects of changes in administered programs.
  • Participates in, coordinates, and/or manages agency programs and projects.
  • Evaluates accounting systems to determine the need for revisions or new automated and/or manual systems for PC Programs. Ensures the resulting accounting system meets the needs of the user(s). Advises and provides technical consultation and guidance to PC program personnel. Provides advice on matters related to program development, subsystem design, and new developments and techniques.
  • Provides analysis and advice in the design, adaptation, or installation of automated accounting systems. Analyzes current and/or required accounting systems to design new or improved systems.
