MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 11:
Qualifying experience for the GS-11 level requires IT-related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail; Customer Service; Oral Communication; and Problem Solving; AND one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level. Specialized experience is experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience must be IT-related and may be paid or unpaid experience.
Example of specialized experience for positions at the GS-11 level, typically gained in the IT field or through performance of work where the primary concern is IT, includes experience that demonstrates accomplishment of IT project assignments that required a range of knowledge of IT requirements and techniques. Accomplishments normally involve the following, or the equivalent:
- knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization;
-planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; and
-adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, at an accredited/pre-accredited institution, that demonstrates the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must have included major study in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or course work in one or more of the identified fields that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
