Notes:

  • These positions are not remote positions. The duty station is Washington, DC. Selectees will be required to report to the duty station at least four days per bi-weekly pay period.

    These positions are being filled under the Direct Hire Authority.

Duties:

  • Assesses the feasibility of establishing new statistical programs or modifying existing programs to incorporate new data collections.

    Designs and manages one or more complex statistical data series or major components of a large scale data series, which may include single or multi-year, local or national data collections on topics such as State and Federal prisoner characteristics, policy agency activities, State and Federal court processing activities, and the experiences of victims of crime.
  • Plans and develops data collection methods, the development of the questions and survey instruments, design of the sample, negotiation with collection agents and respondents, formulation of data processing specifications, monitoring of all phases of the project, identification and resolution of technical and operational problems, evaluation of the collected information, and preparation of documentation for public release of the final data.
  • Provides statistical policy and procedural consultation, advice, and guidance on complex scientific and criminal justice issues in a statistical area related to government functions.
  • Analyzes a variety of data sets using appropriate statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R.
