    This vacancy announcement may be used to fill future vacancies for identical positions within the next year.

    MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE: Because this position is covered under Law Enforcement Officer Retirement provisions, first-time law enforcement appointees must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of appointment. Applicants 37 or older who have previous law enforcement officer experience under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) or the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) may have their previous law enforcement officer experience subtracted from their age to determine whether they meet the maximum entry age requirement.
    ALL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF AGE IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR POSITION, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN APPLICATION BEING WITHDRAWN.


Duties:

  • Incumbent will serve as principal law enforcement advisor and reports directly to the Associate Director, Office of Community Supervision and Intervention Services. Provides advice and recommendations on concepts, policies, and data systems required to support the Agency's public safety mission, to include crime reporting, investigative techniques, public safety initiatives, and implementation and operations requirements.

    Serves as the subject matter expert for all investigations, intelligence gathering, and apprehension efforts for CSOSA offenders in warrant status. Performs advanced-level specialized investigations to locate offenders in warrant status, to include utilizing law enforcement field surveillance tactics and intelligence gathering techniques. Ensures that all investigative and apprehension plans comply with CSOSA policies, regulations, and guidelines. Develops policies, procedures and methods to measure the success of the fugitive apprehension program. Drafts correspondence, memoranda, press releases and other documents relevant to program activities.

    Serves as the liaison between CSOSA and local and federal law enforcement agencies who participate in the apprehension of offenders in warrant status. Develops and maintains contact with the full range of law enforcement entities within the tri-state area, and other law enforcement entities on a national level, to coordinate apprehension efforts and other law enforcement initiatives that support the Agency's mission. Produces solutions to new and/or unusual law enforcement issues related to supervision in support of the Agency's public safety mission.

    Researches administrative or program related materials and/or activities, and presents findings and recommendations in written, verbal, or other form to program, administrative, and/or management officials.
  • Provides program briefings to Agency leadership and external law enforcement partners. Plans, organizes, and coordinates briefings and information exchange opportunities to support fugitive apprehension efforts with external law enforcement entities.

    The duties of this position require the incumbent be trained to carry a firearm, and to maintain proficiency and qualifications in the use of firearms.

    The duties of this position require the incumbent to have successful completed a law enforcement training program provided by the federal government, or an equivalent training program, which provided instruction in the laws of arrest, search and seizure as they relate to investigating criminal offenses.
