Duties:

  • Oversees the process of coordinating, planning, developing, and presenting programmatic recommendations to the Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences (OIFS) Director.
  • Represents OIFS on any of a number of standing and ad hoc governmental, or non-governmental boards, commissions, study teams, and work groups to disseminate quality information about OIFS programs and services, as well as to solicit assistance and views in furtherance of our mission.

    Establishes significant networks involving nationally recognized experts in the investigative and forensic science research and practitioner community, and the associated sciences, that support forensic work.
  • Assists in the direction of publication development/preparation for assigned program areas including reports, standards, guidelines and glossaries. Prepares special reports, option papers, briefing materials, testimony, responses to Congressional and White House inquiries and information requests.
  • Provides authoritative findings, guidance, and recommendations on forensic science policy related program initiatives, proposed legislation, and meetings.

    Performs scientific review of professional studies, research, and analysis in areas relevant to potential criminal justice technology applications of science and technology.
