Develop and Direct Communications strategy: The CCO will lead the Trust to develop targeted marketing and communications strategies that broaden the organizations reach, engagement, and impact. This includes working collaboratively across all divisions to establish compelling and clear content and messaging for a broad range of audiences, including staff, media representatives, elected officials, and local and national constituents. The CCO will oversee the Trusts marketing and branding efforts and ensure the content of all Trust communications, such as collateral, website, social media and other content platforms, have a clear and consistent organizational voice that promotes connection, engagement and support when needed.
Support External Communications: The CCO will ensure strong external communications to support the Trusts success in its various roles as a park, a large real estate and hospitality business, and a financially self-sufficient federal agency. This includes communications to attract, inform and retain stakeholders such as park visitors, residential and non-residential tenants, and donors; as well as media and government relations with local, state and federal officials and agencies. The CCO will develop and maintain relationships with local and national leaders, elected officials, and press organizations to accurately and compellingly articulate the Trusts key priorities.
Support Internal Communications: The CCO will ensure strong internal communications so that staff and board members have the information they need at the time and in the format needed.
Serve on the Trust Executive Team: The CCO will work very closely with the Trust CEO and will sit on the Trusts executive team. As such, the CCO will participate in the strategic and operational decisions for the Trust, balancing primary executive direction with the Communications Divisions needs.
Support Other Trust Divisions: The Communications Division supports all other divisions of the organization in internal and external communications. The CCO will work with Trust executives who have diverse needs, skills and experiences, helping them to understand and prioritize their divisions communications needs, and will assist the Trust executives as a group to prioritize communications projects.
Collaborate with the National Park Service and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy: The CCO will bring finely-honed collaborative skills to a range of important and often complex partnerships. Most importantly, the Trust relies on and is relied upon by the National Park Service (NPS) and the Conservancy. This key collaboration uses a collective impact model in our shared goal of making the Presidio a place that everyone visits, loves, and takes pride in. The CCO will personally establish and maintain productive professional relationships and collegiality with NPS and Presidio Trust staff leaders, and lead the Communications team members to do the same. In addition, the CCO will scan the horizon for areas of joint risks and opportunities and will proactively communicate and work with the NPS and Conservancy.
Lead and Manage Communications Team: The CCO will lead a staff of approximately seven employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the divisions activities and performance. This will be accomplished by adopting Presidio Trust executive and management standards and practices designed to unleash the creativity of staff members through coaching and supporting them in daily problem solving and continuous improvements. The CCO will provide and receive consistent, objective supportive feedback and make management decisions that support the teams and the Trusts success.
