The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. If you're looking for a job where you can analyze budgetary and economic effects of public policies, provide nonpartisan, objective analysis, support the Congress, and work with some of the brightest minds in policy analysis, CBO just might be the right place for you.

Duties:

  • Visiting scholars will interact with CBOs staff on health care, finance, distributional analysis, and other topics. For example, the agency is particularly interested in hosting scholars with expertise in the economics of mental health, long-term care, telehealth, and Medicare Advantage.
  • While working with CBOs staff, visiting scholars may collaborate on research to be published in professional journals, as technical information for staff on Capitol Hill, or for general audiences. The research will draw on many sources of data that CBO has assembled for policy analysis. Visiting scholars will contribute to CBOs analysis of how people might respond to legislative proposals; they will also contribute to the development of models that incorporate such responses and to background information about policy topics for staff on Capitol Hill.
