Agency Marketing Statement:

  • The Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Human Resources (HR) Staff, HR Services seeks to hire a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist to serve as the Acting Assistant Director, JMD HR Services. This is a detail/temporary promotion not-to-exceed 120 days; however, it may be extended in increments of up to 120 days for a period of one year.

Duties:

  • The JMD HR Services office provides full-range human resources (HR) operations and advisory services to the managers and employees at the highest levels of the Department of Justice, various offices, boards and divisions, and the Justice Management Division. The incumbent of this position manages the functions of this office. If selected for this position, you will:



    - Direct all HR operational activities and supervise a staff of approximately 20 employees assigned to provide HR operational support and advisory services in the areas of position classification and position management; recruitment and placement; pay administration; performance management; awards and recognition programs; employee and labor relations; employee retirement and benefits; leave administration and DOJ-wide leave bank administration; drug-free program administration; and, personnel/payroll processing.



    - Advise senior managers in the servicing population on complex HR matters and provides recommendations to address myriad HR workforce challenges and issues.



    - Develop and implement strategizes to optimize HR resources and leverage HR information systems to support HR operations.



    - Prepare and analyze various HR reports to respond to regulatory and DOJ reporting requirements and individual situations that require HR data analysis.
