Ability to provide advice and guidance to managers related to administrative support functions within an organization

Demonstrated ability to communicate orally to agency leadership, staff and representatives.

Skill in preparing correspondence.

Skill using computer programs and software.

Knowledge of office management practices and administrative support processes.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


I am at least 16 years old.

I am a male at least 18 years of age, born after December 31, 1959, and have registered with the Selective Service System OR I am a male at least 18 years of age, born after December 31, 1959, and have NOT registered with the Selective Service System because I have an approved exemption OR I am a female not required to register with the Selective Service System.

I have a MINIMUM grade point average of 2.0.

I am NOT on academic probation.

Grade 03:


Pathways Internship Program positions at the GS-3 level may be filled by degree-seeking students pursuing a vocational/technical certificate, or associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, or comparable degree.


REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIAL APPOINTMENT: Completion of one (1) academic year of post-high school education with study leading to a degree or certificate in any field is qualifying for the GS-3 level.


Grade 04:


Pathways Internship Program positions at the GS-4 level may be filled by degree-seeking students pursuing a vocational/technical certificate, or associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, or comparable degree.


REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIAL APPOINTMENT: Completion of an associate's degree, or at least two (2) years of post-high school education with study leading to a degree or certificate in any field is qualifying for the GS-4 level.


Grade 05:


Pathways Internship Program positions at the GS-5 level may be filled by degree-seeking students pursuing a bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, or comparable degree.


REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIAL APPOINTMENT: Completion of all requirements for a bachelor or equivalent degree in any field is qualifying for the GS-5 level.

Agency Marketing Statement:

  • Established in 1957, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is a small independent federal agency commissioned to investigate complaints alleging that citizens are being deprived of their civil rights; study and collect information relating to discrimination or a denial of equal protection, appraise federal laws and policies; serve as a national clearinghouse for information in respect to discrimination or denial of equal protection of the laws, and submit reports, findings, and recommendation to the President and Congress; and educate the public on civil rights. If all of the above excites you, then CCR is the place for you to intern. If you are a student pursing a Vocational and Technical Certificate, associate, baccalaureate, graduate, or doctorate degree, where appropriate, we are looking for YOU!

Notes:

  • This is a part-time position with a schedule of 20 hours per week.

    Selectee may be non-competitively converted to a career appointment and is able to return to the position during their breaks from school without re-competing.

    To be eligible to be non-competitively converted to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, and intern must have completed 640 hours of work through the internship program and/or have successfully completed the course of academic study culminating in a degree or certificate within 120 days of the proposed conversion..

    The Pathway Internship program integrates classroom study with paid work experience, with the objective or preparing the student for responsible placement into the Federal government workforce. The program is conducted in accordance with a planned schedule and a working agreement between the agency and the student.

    The vacancy is aimed at students in College. Due to the high volume of applications we anticipate for the vacancy, this announcement will close once we receive the first 50 qualified applications or 5 days - whichever comes first. Regardless of the number of applications it will be open for a minimum of two day.

Duties:

  • Under the Pathways Internship Program, receives work experience that is directly related to the student's educational program and career goals. Acquires and increases knowledge, skills, and abilities in performing work in a field of study. Accomplishes assignments with increasing independence. Work assignments may include extracting and summarizing numerical and statistical information from a variety of related financial forms and documents.
